This recipe is a quick and surefire dessert that requires not too much preparation and can be made at the last minute for a dinner party. The crisp crumble over juicy stewed apples is a family favourite loved by young and old. The apples can be replaced by fresh peaches, apricots or plums in season.

    Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350℉

    Step 2

    Toss the fruits in a bowl with brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and lemon juice

    Step 3

    Grease 8” square glass baking dish and layer fruit mixture evenly

    Step 4

    Pour orange juice over this

    Step 5

    In a separate bowl, combine flour, oats and brown sugar; drizzle in the butter; add pecans (or almonds) and lemon rind; stir until crumbly

    Step 6

    Spread this crumble mixture over the fruit mixture

    Step 7

    Bake in oven for 30 mins or till crust is golden

    Step 8

    Serve with vanilla ice-cream
